After the Silesian wars in the 18th century and after the surrender of Glatz to Prussia, Olešnice in the Orlické Mountains became a village on the border. Lively border trading contacts were sometimes slightly beyond the legal limits and created the typical atmosphere of this village with two border crossings. The opportune location was also the reason for the positive development of tourism that started at the beginning of the 20th century. The development was interrupted by WW2, the removal of the German population and closing of the border.
